Inkscape is a vector graphics editor used to create scalable graphics. It is free to download and use, meaning that there are no commitments for users. Inkscape offers broad file format compatibility which allows it to play nice with other softwares such as Adobe Illustrator and Picasa. Perhaps the most convenient part of Inkscape is the online forum where users can go to ask questions and receive answers from verified Inkscape masters.

For us, Inkscape represents the perfect starting point for graphic design. It's simple to use, but powerful enough to remain one of the industry's more prominent softwares. We've used Inkscape in a variety of unorthodox ways, including to design (and print) interesting cookie cutters. Because of its versatility and low bar for entry, Inkscape is one of our go-to design softwares for teaching and making alike.
